gameplay

Dungeon is 12 levels deep; Lair branches (Swamp, Snake, Shoals, Spider) and Vaults are 3 levels; Orc is 1 level.

At max XL, trying to enter any Pandemonium level sends the player to the Abyss instead.

Hell branches can't be exited without their rune.

bcrawl has no exploration trap effects.

When taking stairs there's a 4% chance of being teleported onto the lower floor. This never happens on D:1 or D:2, and never happens when going upwards with no enemies nearby.

When in Zot or carrying the Orb, instant teleports (from stairs or traps) are replaced by blinks.

With at least 1 bar of spell power per spell level, transformation spells last until ended.

Poison on monsters is not capped at 4 stacks.

Long blades give bonus SH based on skill and dexterity, instead of riposte.

species

Skeletons have -20% HP, but have good aptitudes, guardian spirit, and heal when casting spells. As they level, they gain reduced encumbrance from armour and health regeneration from kills.

Oni can't learn spells from books, instead gaining random spells every 2 XL. All Oni spells only use the Spellcasting skill.

Vine Stalkers evolve into a Mana Stalker, Twilight Stalker, or Jungle Stalker at level 8.

Djinni get Wild Magic, Berserkitis, Blurry Vision, and Blink mutations. After their berserk rages end, they never pass out and get a few turns of Brilliance.

Sand Dwarves are slow, small, and have no body armour penalty to spellcasting.

backgrounds

Venom Mage starts with Sting, Poisonous Vapours, Ignite Poison, Olgreb's, Summon Scorpions, and Venom Bolt. Sting is buffed, always poisoning on hit. Poisonous Vapours lasts longer at high spell power.

Artificer and Assassin are merged into Rogue, which starts with both needles and wands.

Conjurer starts with Irradiate. Searing Ray has an unlimited duration, but costs 2 mana/turn at full power. Mystic Blast is level 3 and somewhat weaker.

Sloth Apostle starts with Cheibriados, a shield, a wand of paralysis, and Slow.

Wizard starts with Spider Form instead of Slow.

gods

Qazlal's Elemental Force has a chance based on Invocations to: turn every nearby elemental cloud into an elemental, and give each visible monster Inner Flame. It also causes exhaustion.

Qazlal worshippers can regain mana by standing in a cloud.

Lugonu gives unbranded melee attacks distortion, and reduces Translocation miscast chance.

Lugonu gives armour and ammo gifts.

A Jiyva altar always appears near the entrance to Slime.

Jiyva gives piety for killing monsters.

Slimify creates friendly slimes and can act on multiple enemies, but only has a chance (based on damage done vs enemy HP) to work.

Jiyva grants bonus AC for having mutations.

Jiyva does not randomly spawn jellies.
